West Suffield Resident Honored by Soccer League

She was named to the United Women's Soccer "Team of the Week" for her recent play.

Goalkeeper Gabrielle Arruda of the Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team has been named to the United Women's Soccer "Team of the Week" for her recent play with the New England Mutiny.

Arruda, a resident of West Suffield, posted a shutout win against the New York Magic in her first start of the summer to earn the honor.

UWS is a national women's soccer league sanctioned by U.S. Soccer through the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). UWS is a professionally operated league created for teams that meet high minimum standards. The season runs from May until the end of July, culminating in a National Championship match. The UWS player pool is comprised of college players, aspiring and former professionals and international stars.
