All the Comforts of Home at Gillette Castle
The East Haddam Stage Company will be performing on the grounds of Gillette Castle weekends June through August.
Summertime in the Haddams conjures up memories of local farmers' markets, boating on the CT River, live music series, yard sales, lemonade stands and free performances in the park. This summer will not disappoint.
Set against the backdrop of the home and property of famed stage and screen actor, William Gillette, the East Haddam Stage Company will be performing a Victorian drawing-room comedy called All the Comforts of Home.
The performances will take place on weekends from June 18th through August 7th in a 30-minute adaptation of Gillette's play. Performance times are at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The outdoor shows are free to the public. Bring your own blankets and chairs for comfortable seating.

Gillette is most well-known for his role of detective Sherlock Holmes. Gillette also dabbled as a playwright himself and wrote and directed many productions, including the one that will performed on the grounds of Gillette Castle this summer.
In the 1920’s, Gillette built a large castle-inspired stone retirement home on a large estate overlooking the Connecticut River. The lands and building are now known as Gillette Castle State Park and open to the public.
