KILLINGWORTH, CT —This weekend's open houses in the Haddam-East Haddam-Killingworth area are all in Killingworth, and two of the three come with in-ground pools. One is a Cape on 2 acres with a stone waterfall, a poolside summer kitchen and a dressing room. Another is a Colonial with a wraparound porch and a fire pit on an upper terrace. The third is a 10-year-old home in a 55-and-over community that includes clubhouse and pool access.
Three Killingworth homes are holding open houses Sept. 26-27, with prices from $275,000 to $899,000, according to Zillow.com. No Haddam or East Haddam listings have open houses this weekend.
8 Stonewall Drive, Killingworth, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., $275,000: This 2016 manufactured home has honey-toned hardwood floors, a sun-filled open floor plan and a kitchen with white raised-panel cabinets and a center island. Sliders off the formal dining room lead to a deck and a block patio. There's also a large shed and a whole-house generator. According to the listing, the home is in a 55-and-over community where the land is leased and buyers are subject to approval by Beechwood. The listing says the lot fee covers the clubhouse, pool, road and septic maintenance and trash, and residents can buy a Clinton beach pass. Zillow lists the fee at $571 a month. The two-bedroom, two-bath home has 1,196 square feet.
86 Laurel Ridge Trail, Killingworth, 2 to 3:30 p.m., $899,000: A wraparound porch fronts this 1998 Colonial on 2.7 acres. Inside, the kitchen has a large center island, double ovens and a sunny breakfast area that opens to a family room with a fireplace. Sliding doors lead to a large deck overlooking the private backyard, which has an in-ground pool and a built-in fire pit on an upper terrace. The primary suite has a walk-in closet and a bath with a whirlpool soaking tub. A 23-by-23-foot bedroom suite above the garage has its own heating and cooling. The four-bedroom, 2.5-bath home has 2,942 square feet, a two-car attached garage and a partially finished walk-out lower level. Its price was cut $16,000 on Sept. 14.
628 Route 148, Killingworth, 1 to 3 p.m., $750,000: This 1975 custom Cape sits on 2 acres. It has a remodeled kitchen with a wood-burning stove, a family room with a fireplace, a formal dining room and a formal living room with its own wood-burning fireplace. The primary suite has a fireplace and a remodeled bath, and each of the other two bedrooms has direct access to a full bath. Out back, the in-ground pool area has a stone waterfall, a barbecue area, a separate dressing room and a summer kitchen. There's also a fire pit, a covered picnic area, a covered porch overlooking the pool and a fenced backyard. The three-bedroom, 3.5-bath home has 2,354 square feet.
Make a weekend of it: Saturday's two open houses are spread out, so there's no rush. Start at Stonewall Drive, open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and save Laurel Ridge Trail for its 2 p.m. opening. On Sunday afternoon, the waterfall pool and summer kitchen on Route 148 make an easy comparison with Laurel Ridge's pool and terraced fire pit from the day before.
