Annual Water Quality Report Now Available from Connecticut Water

The report summarizes water quality testing done in 2012 and provides readers with information about the Company"s water systems, water quality test results, and source protection measures. East Haddam and Killingworth are both served by CT Water.

Connecticut Water's latest water qualityΒ report is now available to customers and others who consume the water produced by theΒ company. The report summarizes water quality testing done in 2012 and provides readers withΒ information about the Companyβ€Ÿs water systems, water quality test results, and sourceΒ protection measures. Connecticut Water works closely with the Department of Public HealthΒ (DPH) to ensure that the water it provides to customers meets or is better than state and federalΒ standards for drinking water. Customers who read the report can see that effort results in highΒ quality water being delivered in our systems.

β€œConnecticut Water employees are committed to delivering customers with clean, high-qualityΒ drinking water. We know water is one of lifeβ€Ÿs essentials and touches everything we careΒ about,” said Craig J. Patla, Connecticut Waterβ€Ÿs Director of Service Delivery. β€œWe encourageΒ our customers to read the report so they can see the extensive water quality testing andΒ monitoring that is performed throughout the year so customers can have confidence in theΒ quality of the water delivered in our systems.” 

The Company's Water Quality Report summarizes the results of 170,000 water quality testsΒ conducted in 2012. More than 400 tests are performed each day for more than 120 potentialΒ contaminants and parameters that could affect the quality of tap water. Connecticut WaterΒ collects water samples before the water is treated, during the treatment process and in theΒ distribution system before it reaches a customer's home.Β 

Water quality samples are tested atΒ laboratories certified by DPH and test results are submitted to DPHβ€Ÿs Drinking Water Division.- More -In addition to drinking water quality information, the Water Quality report includes otherΒ educational material about lead and copper, fluoride and nitrates.Connecticut Water is taking full advantage of Internet capabilities to reduce costs andΒ environmental impacts of printing and mailing the Annual Water Quality report to customers.Β 

AllΒ customers may view and download the water quality reports at the Companyβ€Ÿs Web site,www.ctwater.com, in the β€žCustomersβ€Ÿ section. Customers without online access can obtain aΒ free copy of the water quality report by calling 1-800-286-5700 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.,Monday through Friday, except holidays.# # #Connecticut Water Company serves nearly 300,000 people in 56 towns in Connecticut.Β
