Bengtson, Eckhart, Gendron: Recent Death Notices From Haddam & East Haddam

EAST HADDAM, CT — Recent death notices from Haddam and East Haddam.

Dr. Kenneth L. Eckhart Jr., 85, of Haddam, died Aug. 18, 2026. An OB/GYN who joined a Middletown medical practice after his residency, he served as head of Middlesex Hospital's OB/GYN department for more than 20 years and delivered more than 5,000 babies. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla, three daughters and seven grandchildren.

Marjorie (Birdsey) Bengtson, 78, of Higganum, died Aug. 12, 2026. She worked as a teacher's assistant at the Haddam-Killingworth School District. She is survived by her husband, David, a son, two grandchildren, a brother and a sister-in-law.

Zdzislaw "Stan" Nastalczyk, 73, of Moodus, died July 30, 2026. A woodworker who retired from WDJ Architectural Woodworking, he was a member of the Colchester Polish Club and coached youth hockey. He is survived by two sisters and a brother.

Robert "Bob" Gendron, 69, of East Haddam, died July 22, 2026. An avid photographer and traveler, he was active in a Mah Jong group at the East Haddam Senior Center. He is survived by a son and two stepdaughters.
