Haddam Fire Holding Recruitment Night Monday June 18th
Want to join an elite group of highly trained emergency volunteers? Come to the Haddam Fire Recruitment night Monday, June 18th at 7:00pm.
On Monday, June 18th at 7:00pm, the Membership Committee of the Haddam Volunteer Fire Co. will host an evening of information for anyone considering joining. A presentation consisting of requirements, training, and the activities that members participate in will be held inside the Station #1 Fire House located at 439 Saybrook Road in Higganum.
“Now is a great time to learn more about the Fire Company and consider joining,” says Membership Committee Chairman Lt. John Kuzminski. “We are hosting the Middlesex County Fire School Firefighter I class this Fall, so it will be very convenient for any new members.” Training and personal protective equipment is provided to all members.
Applicants do not need any prior Firefighting experience, although anyone who may have had training in another town or state is certainly welcome – and that previous training will be utilized where possible. “We have a strong training program for new and existing members,” says 2nd Assistant Chief Bob Norton. “All new Firefighters are put through a course certifies them as a Firefighter I before they ever are put into burning buildings, or allowed to drive apparatus.” Once a member, advanced classes are encouraged and also paid for. “Many of our members have gone on to become Emergency Medical Responders and/or Emergency Medical Technicians, and taken other advanced classes.”
