Haddam Voters: Vote May 8th on RSD #17 Education Budget
Article to encourage voter turnout at the May 8th Referendum in Haddam

Every year the largest item (73%) in Haddam’s town spending is Haddam’s share of the RSD#17 budget. Haddam’s share of the RSD #17 budget this year 2012/2013 will be $20,918,591 which represents a 3.4% increase ($692,908) over last year 2011/2012. This is a result of the Average Daily Membership formula that allocates the district’s total budget between the towns of Haddam and Killingworth.
The mill rate that determines the amount of town taxes that Haddam residents pay in the upcoming fiscal year will be set by the Board of Finance once the RSD #17 referendum process and the vote on the Selectman’s budget are passed. The increase ($692,908) in Haddam’s portion of the RSD #17 can be expected to result in 0.8 mills and it could be more.
