How I Purchased $49.30 worth of items for $10.64

Money Saving Tips

Trying to live on one income is tough. And with prices rising daily it is increasingly difficult. Living in East Haddam it is a given that you are going to have to drive some distance when you go shopping.  I am going to try to let you know where the deals of the week are available.  I will provide freebies, coupon deals and the best gas prices.

I will also help you get started if you are new to couponing. While I am not an Extreme Couponer, I do like to save money.  If I am able to receive multiples of items that I know my family won’t be able to use I donate them to the Food Panty.

Stop & Shop has teamed up with Shell gas stations to offer shoppers gas discounts.  The local shell station is in Salem, otherwise known as The Henny Penny.  Regular gas there was $4.27 before any discounts.  Stop and Shop is working on opening a Stop & Shop gas station in Colchester.  The location is planned for the gas station next to Wendy’s. There is a Stop & Shop gas station in Norwich, next to the Stop & Shop.  Regular gas was $4 before any discounts you may have. While it might seem a bit far to travel to Norwich for gas if you are shopping already at Shop Rite, Big Y or Wal-Mart, it is worth the drive over.

My next blog will post the deals at Grocery Stores such as Stop & Shop, Shop-Rite, Price Chopper, Wal-Mart, Target, Aldie, and Price Rite.  I will post on Mondays for the week.

Yesterday, I was meeting my parents in Manchester for lunch, so I decided to stop by Target and see what deals I could find.  Target has coupons on their website that you can print out and use in their stores. You are able to use the Target coupons with a manufacturer coupon. The total price of my items before sale prices and coupons was $49.30. After sale prices and coupons I paid $10.64.  Here is how I did it.

While I normally would not buy a frozen pizza with baseball season upon us, the games can run a little late it is nice to have in the freezer. I can make a quick salad and serve pizza, wings or breadsticks and feed a family of four for less than $5.

If you come across some deals feel free to let me know.  Vacday2005@yahoo.com
