Impressive Week for HK Lacrosse!

HK Youth Lacrosse Junior Boys sweep! Over the weekend of April 29th the Junior Boys 5th and 6th grade teams earned victories over Groton and Old Lyme respectively. The final score in the 6th grade win over Old Lyme was was 8-1.  The HK Boys demonstrated outstanding teamwork again with eight different players contributing with scores: Sam Purdy and Nick O'Brien each contributed 2 goals (2 assists for Purdy as well), Jared Sullivan, Soren Franz, Devin Civiello, and Finn Miller each had 1 goal, and Tanner Purcell and Rick Darin each had an assist.  Finn Miller and Kevin Dougherty tended goal for the win. 

On Tuesday May 1st the HK Boys Jr (6th grade) hosted the Old Lyme ticks again, improving their record to 3-1 while earning a 10-2 win.  Teamwork again was key as 8 different players scored  goals – Miller (2), Scott Elliott (2), with Purdy, Franz, Sullivan, Allen, Dougherty,  and Darin each netting 1 Goal.  The goals were set up by assists from Sullivan (2), Purdy, Franz, Civiello, Miller, O’Brien, Steinhilper, and Darin.  Wally Sample and Kevin Dougherty tended goal.

The Sr. Boys had an outstanding showing in the Glastonbury LaxFest on Saturday, May 5th, going 3-0 in the preliminary games to make it all the way to the championship game.  In the first game against Farmington, which HK won 7-0, Zach Herman scored 2 goals, while Carter Steinhilper, Quentin Silverio, Liam Murphy, Jack O'Brien, and Jeremy Fleig also all contributed a goal each.  Liam Murphy had 1 assist.  Game 2 against Burlington also ended with a 7-0 HK win.  Liam Murphy lit it up with 3 goals, Jarod Perry contributed 2 more, and Zach Hermann and Quentin Silverio also each put up a goal.  Assists were made by Daneil Civiello, Grant Glass, and Drew Burley.  Game 3 saw HK rack up their 3rd win of the day against Glastonbury with a score of 3-1, with goals scored by Jeremy Fleig, Joe DiMauro, and Zach Hermann, with 2 assists by Markus Trahan and 1 by Jarod Perry.  While HK fell in the championship game against a tough Brookfield opponent, goalie Adam Massicott, who tended goal in all 4 games had an impressive 10 saves in the game against Brookfield, for a total of 15 for the day!
