Meeting Folks in the 34th!

One of the most important parts of a vigorous political campaign is the exercise politicians refer to as “doing doors.” This means walking up to a voter’s door, introducing yourself, and discovering what issues are most important to them. Sounds easy, right? Think again! 

Meeting as many voters as possible and discussing issues pertinent to them is essential in gathering a true view of those I hope to represent. This is why my campaign has already knocked on hundreds of doors -- and this is how the Ziobron 2012 campaign will be spending the next several months before November. The response of folks has been wide-ranging and I have learned a great deal about the newly configured district and the people, who love it, like me. 

Folks are telling me that they are worried about many things -- and property taxes and the economy are at the top. Our local economies are not doing as well as they once were and I want to help change that. My first priority is something I already do every day, which is the promotion of shopping local. Another observation was that the 34th District has some key commercial properties that are vacant. As State Representative I would start by asking: Are State regulations impeding progress in that area? What are the towns doing to align their economic development goals and leverage funding like STEAP grants? 

Additionally, I learned that my district contains a little-known hub of the Airline Trail, along with the others so many residents use. And many constituents do not know who their State Representative is. I want to change that. See you at the door!
