Spring Annual Appeal

Please support Youth and Family Services of Haddam-Killingworth, Inc.

Our Spring Annual Appeal is currently underway.  We would truly appreciate a donation in any amount.  Your donation will support the children and families right here in your own community with a guaranteed direct impact. 

Here are a few of the activities that were supported by your donations in the recent past: 

  • The Holiday Giving Program provided gifts for 49 children in Haddam and Killingworth. 
  • A (open to the public) was installed at the Regional School District 17 Central Office outdoor courtyard to encourage early learning for children birth to 5 
  • Individual, family and group counseling  on a sliding scale fee was provided to  residents of both Haddam and Killingworth by qualified therapists
  • The Juvenile Review Board successfully continued to divert first time offenders of the law from the Juvenile Court system
  • Collaboration with Haddam-Killingworth Middle School to bring The Courage to Speak Foundation, a teen drug prevention program for student presentations, a parent presentation followed by a four week parenting series
  • Girls Night Out, an informational night designed to give girls a better understanding of the changes that their bodies will go through during puberty was held for girls and their moms/guardians
  • Rachel’s Challenge, a school wide assembly for Haddam-Killingworth High School students to promote an atmosphere of kindness and tolerance

The Healthy Communities-Healthy Kids Coalition, (an initiative of YFSHK) held some of the following activities:

  • Family Dinner Night was held free of charge for over 150 residents of Haddam and Killingworth to encourage families to dine together at least three nights per week
  • A Prescription Drug Disposal Program
  • A Social Norms Campaign addressing alcohol and other drug use
  • Family Movie Night to promote family communication and support
  • to address stressors faced by our youth
