Pilot in Haddam Plane Crash Identified [UPDATE]

The pilot is believed to be the sole occupant of the plane.

HADDAM, CT — A small plane crashed into a Haddam home Saturday afternoon seriously injuring the pilot, State Police said.

Life Star was called to the scene to transport the pilot, identified as Benjamin Temple, 46, of East Rockaway, New York. Temple was the sole occupant of the plane.

The plane is an experimental fixed-wing aircraft, according to the FAA.

Power lines or pole were affected by the crash with close to 300 customers without power around the time of the crash. Power has since been restored.

No injuries were reported to the homeowner or to anyone on the ground.

The FAA along with the State Aviation Inspector, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the Haddam building inspector, State Police and various local authorities responded to the scene.

The investigation is being conducted by the FAA with assistance from State Police. The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified.
