The last few weeks have been busier than I expected. I think we can all relate to having a list of things to do and then life takes over. Even with the best intentions, we don’t accomplish all that we would like. It’s fitting in a way, with it being fall. We have this seasonal shift away from summer and being on the go, to get in as much as possible until we are slowed by the winter season. With that understanding, I like to take things in stride. We can’t be hard on ourselves for balancing a variety of things, but we should also take a few moments every day to just rest. Let’s take a few breaths and reflect on how we are. No matter how much we have to get accomplished, it really is a matter of perspective. I think it is better to manage our health and well-being first, and then do what we can with the time we have.
Thinking of Running With Vince, that was released this past week, I think about the two brothers and how part of the challenge in their lives were finding time for each other. We process this concept, especially when loved ones pass. How much time did we spend together? For those that feel they didn’t get enough time, it’s difficult to move forward. You have this sense of regret that there could have been more, a better connection was possible.
I don’t claim to know how to make this situation any less regretful. I think we all wish that we had more time for family and friends. Therefore, when we do lose someone close, we should take that as a sign to spend more time with those we love. These are the moments to reflect on how wisely we use our time. Are we too focused on completing our list? Is there a balance in place to truly appreciate the time we have with those that matter most?
