3. The Old State House has a new LEGO mural showcasing snowy fun in Hartford. The 8-by-14-foot mural depicts a winter scene in Bushnell Park, with a snow-covered State Capitol in the background. Mark Twain himself strolls past a hockey game in progress on the frozen pond as a downhill-racing sled and toboggan prepare to make short work of somebody's snow fort. This mural will be displayed through February. Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children 6-17, and children 5 and under are free. If your student has an ID card or you have AAA, the admission is $3.
4. The Connecticut River Museum "Eagles of Essex" exhibit offers an in-depth view of the majestic bald eagle, learn how to identify birds of prey, and discover the best land-viewing spots. It features an interactive eagle nest, eagle-sighting scoreboard, and a real-time community photography display. There are drop-in arts and crafts, eagle nest building activity, family gallery tours, birdwatching with binoculars and scope and more. These are free with admission. The exhibit runs through March 13.
