Haddam firefighters advised a homeowner to have a chimney pipe professionally cleaned after a chimney fire.

Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a morning chimney fire Dec. 13 at a residence on Saybrook Road. Finding no extension, firefighters emptied the wood stove inside the home and dropped chains down the chimney pipe from the roof to clear debris. The homeowner was advised to have the pipe professionally cleaned.
