Cougar Aquatic Team (CAT) Swimmers Start Season Strong with 8 Trophy Winners
Students from Haddam-Killingworth placed second and third.

Fifty-four Cougar Aquatic Team (CAT) swimmers competed in the 2011 SNCO Pentathlon swim competition held on October 23rd at Central Connecticut State University. Over 400 swimmers from 12 Connecticut swim teams competed in five events with the overall times determining the award winners. This was the first USA swim meet for some CAT swimmers. Eight CAT swimmers placed in the top three in their age groups and won trophies at the Pentathlon swim meet.
CAT first place winner was Caitlin McNary (Westbrook) 11/12 girls. Second place winners were Theresa Goehring (Essex) 15 & over girls and Mason Revis (Higganum) 13/14 boys. Third place winners were Marissa McNary (Westbrook) 10 & under girls, Drew Donlan (Haddam) 10 & under boys, Brooke Perrotta (Higganum) 11/12 girls, Jake Gibbons (Higganum) 13/14 boys, and Maggie Purvis (Old Saybrook) 13/14 girls.
According to head coach Mike Krajewski, the kids swam well in the first meet of the season. “The younger kids posted a lot of best times and we had some impressive swims from our transfers,” he added.

The Cougar Aquatic Team (CAT), founded in 1985, is a recognized USA swim team that practices at the Haddam-Killingworth High School pool. CAT competes at several locations and colleges around Connecticut and New England. Under the sponsorship of the Haddam-Killingworth Recreation Department, CAT provides competitive training programs where individual needs and goals are given careful consideration.
Swimmers are grouped based on ability, age, and objectives. Practices are available seven days a week with incorporated dry land training (strength training and exercises outside of the water), as well as periodic specialized clinics.
