Daytime Burglaries Continue in Higganum and Haddam

Residents in the Higganum and Haddam area continue to be targeted by thieves, who are taking advantage of homeowners while they are away during the daytime hours.

Police are reporting two more residential burglaries that took place on Monday, Jan. 14.

A burglary that took place at a home on Grapevine Road in Higganum resulted in the theft of a 27-inch Sony flat-screen TV and jewelry. One particular piece of jewelry has been described as a woman's 18-karat gold bracelet, with  a unique stamp on the clasp that notes 18k gold in German.

Entry into the building was made through an unlocked side door. A possible witness to the incident, who initially hadn't called police at the time, described a white male suspect wearing black clothing and carrying a white sack.

At about 2:30 p.m., the suspect was observed walking away from the victim's home, then being picked up by someone driving a small, tan older model pick-up truck, possibly a Chevy S-10 model.

A second burglary on the same day, that occurred on Walkley Hill Road in Haddam resulted in the theft of more jewelry and a black Lenovo laptop computer. Entry had been forced through the back door of the home.
