East Haddam Fire Department Hosts Tanker Shuttle Drill for Middle Schoolers

Various departments participated in the demonstration.

EAST HADDAM, CT- The Fire Department hosted a tanker shuttle drill at Nathan Hale-Ray Middle School in Moodus on Tuesday.

East Haddam, Haddam, Salem, Chester and East Hampton departments all participated according to recent post on the department’s Facebook page.

Crews practiced drafting water from a standpipe on North Moodus Road and shuttling the water to the awaiting portable drop tanks. The water was then pumped to the ladder truck and sprayed from the ladder pipe.

In rural areas that lack fire hydrants, shuttling water is necessary to deliver water to the scene of a fire.
