East Haddam Man Distracted by Hawk Knocks Out Power After Car Rollover

State police said a man veered off the road and clipped a utility pole after being distracted by a hawk.

EAST HADDAM, CT - A man watching a low-flying hawk knocked out a neighborhood’s power in East Haddam on Saturday, NBC Connecticut reported.

State police said the 59-year old man veered off the road and clipped a utility pole after being distracted by the bird, according to NBC Connecticut. Emergency crews responded to the area of Beebe Road around 9 a.m.

The man’s car was surrounded by downed wires, but he was eventually able to maneuver his way out, NBC Connecticut reported. He was then sent to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
