From soccer to hula hooping and the grand opening of the East Haddam dog park.

The East Haddam Parks and Recreation department provides a variety of programs and services for the residents of East Haddam. 

September 2011 Newsletter

  • Dog Park Grand Opening: The much-anticipated dog park, located adjacent to the town beach, is open! There will be a grand opening on Sunday, October 9th at 3 p.m.
  • Help Needed Basketball: We will be hiring youth basketball referees in the upcoming months.Basketball games will start in January 2012 on saturdays between 12 ans 4 p.m. We need adults and high school students. We are also looking for 8 to 12 graders who need community service hours to fill positions as basketball scorekeepers and clock workers.
  • Projects: We are looking for High School Seniors to partner with for senior projects. Call Tiffany for ideas.
  • Soccer Updates: All youth soccer will be held at Nichols Field. The Old Middle School is being used as the debris management site and will not be accessible for soccer. Grade 1 soccer will start on September 17th at 10:30 a.m. at Nichols Field. Grade 2-5 soccer will start practice the week of September 12, the coach will contact you with practice information. All players must bring a ball and water bottle (labeled) and must wear shin guards. Cleats are optional.
  • Yoga: 2 levels of yoga will be offered in October. Details will be available by September 15th.
  • Zumba: 2 classes will be offered beginning September 12th at the senior center, Zumba and Zumba Gold. Details are available here.
  • Anybody Can Hoop: Hula hooping classes begin on September 21st at the Middle School. Details will be available on the website.
  • Dog Obedience Training: Classes will be held at the Old Middle School from September 28th through November 2nd from 7 to 8 p.m. Contact Tiffany Quinn for details.
  • Youth Programs: Basketball, American Red Cross Babysitting and When I'm in Charge programs are being offered for the fall. Details, costs and dates can be found here.

All programs require pre-registration. Registration forms can be found here. Classes that do not meet the minimun requirement will be cancelled so be sure to register as soon as possible.
