East Haddam Voter Turnout Slighter Higher Than Previous Years

As of 12:15 p.m., nearly 1,000 voters had turned out to vote.

Campaign signs littered both sides of the road as voters approached the Hale-Ray High School in East Haddam on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8.

If voters arrived still unsure of who to vote for, there were candidates with flyers and information on each side of the walkway leading to the high school gym. The Democrats were stationed under a tent to the left, while the Republicans were to the right. Both camps were serving food to voters, along with flyers, information and smiles.

There was a steady stream of voters coming in and out of the polls. According to Moderator, Joel Ide, there have been "slightly more voters than usual."

"We had hoped to reach 1,000 by noon, but were just shy of that number at 997."

On an average year, voter turnout averages a little over over 100 per hour, this year it has been closer to 200.
