Easy-to-Make Cupcake Toppers

Add flair to the simple cupcake with a personalized topper.

How do you turn an already gorgeous cupcake into a true work of art?  Add a cupcake topper!  This “cupcake garden” is easy to make and will be the talk of your next party!

The materials list provided below is really just to help get you started.  Experiment with different size punches that you may already have in your stash, and audition different embellishments for the centers.  All of these supplies can be found in the scrapbooking section of your local craft store.  If you are an experienced crafter, you may already have everything you need!  If you are just beginning, these are great tools to start with.  You’ll find you can use these basic shapes in many, many projects!

Materials:

  • Assorted scrapbooking papers
  • Assorted paper punches

Suggested sizes:

  • 2½-inch scallop
  • 2-inch circle
  • Paper flowers
  • Center embellishments

  • 2-inch metal circle frames
  • Paper-covered brads
  • Letter stickers
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Glue

Directions:

  1. Punch 2 scallops and glue them, back-to-back, to the top of the lollipop stick.
  1. Embellish center.
    1. Simply glue flower to the center of the scallop shape.  If you’d like, you can also attach a paper-covered brad.
    2. Punch a 2” circle.  Insert this circle into a metal frame.  Glue to the scallops.  Glue paper-covered brad to the center of the circle.
