EHLPC Hires Prevention Coordinator
The Prevention Coordinator's job is to help facilitate and synchronize the work of the EHLPC

The East Haddam Local Prevention Council (EHLPC) is moving ahead with our efforts to reduce and prevent the underage use of alcohol and other drugs among our youth. To that end, a new employee, Christine Steele, has joined the council as the new Prevention Coordinator to help facilitate and synchronize the work of the EHLPC.
The Council engages community members in proven strategies to prevent the use of drugs and alcohol. On behalf of the EHLPC, East Haddam Youth and Family Services was awarded the five year federal Drug Free Communities Support Program grant in October, 2012. Since then, we have been busy with several different initiatives, including Party Patrols, DUI checkpoints, TIPS training for businesses that either sell or serve alcohol, and Compliance Checks.
The LPC would like to thank all those residents who participated in The Community Readiness Survey. We are looking forward to learning the results of the survey in order to better understand issues related to youth substance use in our community and how we can be most effective in addressing them.
If you are interested in helping the EHLPC with our efforts, we meet on the third Tuesday of every month. Call East Haddam Youth & Family Services (860-873-3296) for more information on joining the important work of keeping our youth strong, safe and substance free.
