Elderly Woman Dies Following East Haddam Drowning Incident: Police

EAST HADDAM, CT — A woman has died after a drowning incident Wednesday night, according to state police.

On Thursday, police identified the victim as 68-year-old Mary Tracy Shepley.

Troopers were called to a residence on Triangle Drive around 9:30 p.m. on July 15 for a possible drowning, police said.

The woman was treated at the scene and then transported for more advanced medical care, but she was later pronounced deceased, according to state police.

The incident remains under investigation, state police said.

Emergency personnel reported the woman’s family found her in the nearby Moodus Reservoir after the family’s dog returned home alone and wet.
