“Getting in Touch with Breast Health”

The Middlesex Hospital Comprehensive Breast Center, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness month, invites the community to “Getting in Touch with Breast Health,” a free, special event taking place on Thursday, October 20, 2011, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station, Route 82 in Haddam.

The keynote speaker will be Mary Ann Wasil Nilan. Ms. Nilan is a six-year breast cancer survivor, mother of three teenagers, health activist and founder of the grassroots non-profit organization, the Get In Touch Foundation.

Get In Touch’s cornerstone mission is the Get In Touch Girls’ Program & Daisy Wheel, a breast health initiative educating girls in grades 5-12 on the importance of, and how to do, a breast self-exam for life. Attendees are encouraged to bring their mothers, daughters, granddaughters, sisters, nieces and friends. The evening will also feature Donna Papetti, a certified personal trainer and creator of the Warrior Workout, which bridges the gap between the world of physical fitness and spirituality.
