Midsummer Night's Concert with Grayson Hugh

The MUSIC AT THE MEETINGHOUSE CONCERT SERIES for 2012-13 will begin on Saturday evening, July 21st at 7:30PM with an exciting concert by songwriter/singer/pianist Grayson Hugh and Polly Messer.

Grayson Hugh, a native of West Hartford, released his debut album in 1980..., and was signed on to a major label in 1987.  He achieved fame with a pair of songs on the soundtrack of "Thelma and Louise" in 1991 and a best-selling album, "Road to Freedom" in 1992.  In 2010 he released "An American Record" and is working on another album.

Grayson's music is energetic, upbeat, and vibrant, a mixture of bluegrass, soul, and jazz, very appealing to audiences.  Chuck Still, the Executive Director of The Kate in Old Saybrook, says:  "Once again, Grayson Hugh rocked The Kate leaving our audience begging for more.  A lot of people play our piano, but nobody whips it into a frenzy like Grayson."

Tickets are $15 at the door, or $12 in advance by calling 860-537-2052, or going to Celebrations in Deep River, Goodspeed Station in Tylerville (Haddam), or Wild Geese in Colchester.  Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge.  A reception will follow the performance with a opportunity to meet the artists.

This concert benefits the Music Program of the First Church, which funds the musicians and provides for repair and upkeep of the musical instruments.  We are also delighted to provide quality entertainment to the community, and invite everyone to attend!
