Families Find Fishing Fun
Dozens turned out Saturday for the DEP's Fishing Day at Chatfield Hollow State Park.
Kids and their parents, as well as individual anglers, lined the beach and roadways at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth on Saturday to take part in the Department of Environmental Protection's Fishing Day, held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is the second in a series of Outdoor Adventure Challenge Family Days and is part of the DEP's No Child Left Inside initiative, designed to encourage children and their families to get outside and experience nature. The Family Days are themed around 11 outdoor recreation activities that include birding, fishing, hiking, biking, visiting historic sites, boating, swimming, camping, picnicking, letterboxing and winter activities. Â
The Outdoor Adventure Challenge runs year-round and encourages families to experience the excitement and joy of fun outdoors in Connecticut State Parks and Forests.
