
First Selectman candidate Matt Young, nominated by the Killingworth Republican Town Committee in the July 18 Republican caucus, is the winner of the Killingworth Republican Primary held on September 10, securing the race with 235 votes. Petitioning challenger Richard Ross received 215 votes.
“I would like to thank the people of Killingworth for putting their faith in me”, Matt Young stated. “I have many great ideas I would like to share with the town to help it grow and prosper, and I hope the people of Killingworth will continue to put their faith in me, this November.”
Veteran Board of Selectman office holder Fred Dudek will be on the November ballot, securing his candidacy with 238 votes. He will be joined on the ballot this November by John Samperi, who successfully petitioned his candidacy in the primary for the second Board of Selectman seat with 233 votes. BOS candidate George Hedrick received 222 votes while candidate Jeff Yazmer received 198 votes.

Although William Silas, who received 248 votes, and Shawn O’Connell, who received 247 votes, have successfully earned their candidacies for the first and second seats for the Board of Finance, the winner of the third Board of Finance seat will be decided in a recount this Friday due to a tie vote. BOF candidate David Denvir and BOF candidate Robert Rioja each received 236 votes.
