Grand Opening: The Spa at New Image Salon

A brand new business, "The Spa at New Image Salon", 25 Falls Road in Moodus, located in the Old Lumberyard Plaza at Moodus Center, recently opened its doors.

At the recent grand opening celebration, spa staff, family, friends and customers gathered for an evening of socializing, snacks and complimentary massages and nail painting.

Hors d'oeuvres and light snacks were provided by Zac Jezek of the Grist Mill Market and specialty coffees were donated by Vijay and Bhavna Mehta of Bagels Plus.

The Spa at New Image Salon offers a comprehensive selection of treatments and services for their customers such as massage, facials, waxing, nail services and Reiki.

"I'm very excited to now be able to provide professional spa services to people, right here in our own hometown," said owner and life-long resident of East Haddam, Cookie Gowac.

Gowac had originally started the first part of the business, "New Image Salon", a little over five years ago in July of 2007.  The salon is located on the lower level of the building, and the new spa is located on the upper level, a couple of doors down.

Roberta Denya, a certified Reiki practitioner who has worked at the salon as a hair stylist for the past four years, will be offering her services at the spa. "I think this spa will be a huge success here, as we are able to offer services that were not previously available here in town for the "complete spa experience," she said.

For those who are unfamiliar with "Reiki", Denya explained it as "An energy-based spiritual healing and relaxation technique."
