Grief 101

I don't claim to be an expert, nor will I state that my perspective is the only important one. I think it's important to share that from the beginning because every view point serves. Some certainly serve more than others, but it depends on what we need at a given point in time.

Understanding this, grief is something we all experience. We all know loss may it be from a passing of a loved one, the ending of a relationship, termination from a job, or perhaps an injury that changed how we operated in this world. It is important to recognize when we are grieving and to not give a time frame as to when we should be done with the process.

Contrary to popular belief there are no time lines. We might think we have to move forward within a week, a month, or even a year, but truly loss strikes at our core. We can certainly start redefining who we are, but when we experience loss, in some aspects that's a forever concept. Knowing this, go easy on yourself, take one day at a time, and know you are never alone.
