Haddam Burglar Arrested After Police Pursuit: PD

HADDAM, CT — A Manchester man was arrested after he committed a burglary in Haddam in June, according to police.

Cash, credit cards and coins were stolen during the burglary, State Police said. A shoe print was found outside the first floor window where forced entry was gained into the residence.

One of the victim's credit cards was used at the I-95 southbound service area in Madison.

Steven Aberg, 28, was developed as a suspect. He was wearing shoes at the Madison rest stop that matched shoe prints taken at the burglary scene, police said.

Police tried to stop Aberg on July 11 and he engaged police in a pursuit. He struck an SUV during his attempt to escape in Waterbury, police said.

He tried to flee on foot after crashing into a truck. He was apprehended.

Aberg was charged with engaging police in a pursuit, disobeying the signal of an officer, first-degree reckless endangerment and other crimes. He was held on a $100,000 bond.

He was charged with the burglary on Aug. 30.
