Haddam Fire Company Welcomes New Members

One new member represents the fourth generation of his fire service family.

The Haddam Volunteer Fire Company welcomed three new probationary members on Monday, one who represents the fourth generation of his Fire Service family.

From left, Chief Sam Baber swears in Daniel Geary, Jessica Scalesse and Ian Hartke. Ian is the son of Probationary Firefighter Jeff Hartke and is related to 10 former members, including grandfather Fred Hartke Jr., cousin Jason Hartke, uncle John Hartke and great uncle Thomas Hartke.

At Monday’s monthly meeting, Fred presented his grandson with a membership pin. The Hartke/Nosal/Valensky men have contributed a combined 192 years of service to the Fire Company since its founding in 1930.
