Harassment, Vehicles vs. Utility Poles, Burglary and Larceny

East Haddam area police activity reports.

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:

HARASSMENT - On Oct. 18, John Rucker, Jr., 43, of 1 Creek Row, East Haddam was arrested and charged with 2nd-degree harassment, based on an active warrant. Rucker was issued a $1,000 non-surety bond and given a court date of 10/19/11 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

 

TWO-CAR MOTOR-VEHICLE ACCIDENT INVOLVING A UTILITY POLE - On Oct. 19 at approximately 3:44 p.m., Kevin Donahue, 51, of Short Road, Moodus was traveling along Route 149 in Colchester, in the area of Pickerel Drive in a 2002 Jaguar-X. Police say Donahue struck a 2010 Toyota RAV-4 driven by Linda Lucas, 64, of Elaine Drive, Moodus, and then struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported on scene, but both vehicles had to be towed as a result of damages. Donahue was issued infractions for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart and traveling unreasonably fast.

MOTOR-VEHICLE vs. EAST HADDAM SWING-BRIDGE - On Oct. 20 at approximately 2:40 p.m., John Daniels, 59, (no street address given) of Moodus was traveling westbound on Route 82 in East Haddam in a 1997 Chevy C-1500 utility truck. Police reported that Daniels became distracted and struck the bridge's traffic control gate, causing minor damages to the gate and his vehicle. No injuries were reported.


VEHICLE vs. UTILITY POLE - On Oct. 21 at approximately 2:26 p.m., Alan Hanks, 67, of Laurel Cove Road, East Haddam was traveling northbound on Bashan Road in East Haddam, operating a town passenger van/bus, when he reportedly swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway, striking a utility pole. No injuries were reported, however the bus sustained moderate front-end damage.

BURGLARY AND LARCENY - On Oct. 22 at 7:37 p.m., East Haddam Police were called to a Hemlock Valley Road, East Haddam address to investigate a complaint of a stolen guitar and amplifier from the home. The items are estimated to be worth approximately $4,500.
