Help an Indie Bookstore Grow

Hello Everybody! Welcome to my fourth blog post, which will be centered on Books & Boos.

The first thing is my wife and I have started an Indiegogo (http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-an-independent-bookstore-grow) campaign to help fund an expansion for Books & Boos. We want to move the store to a bigger location located in the center of Colchester. This new location will give us a lot more space to bring into the store the more than 8,000 books we have at our house. This will free up space in the dining room and basement, which has been taken over by books. It will also allow us to enlarge our current sections.

This new location will also allow us a bigger space for events, book clubs, writing groups, and for people to hang out, do work or even homework. Space could be used by community groups, too. Some events could even go on at the same time with this potential bigger space.

Please consider donating even a dollar. Every little bit will help. Here is the link, http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-an-independent-bookstore-grow. There are also gifts for donors when certain monetary levels are reached.

Books & Boos will have a tent at the Open Air Market and Festival at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown this Sunday. The mansion is located at 421 Wadsworth Street. The market runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and has over 80 participating vendors. You can check out the vendors here, http://www.wadsworthmansion.com/open_air_market.html. Here is a link to pictures from last year’s market, http://jasonharrispromotions.org/2012/08/27/pictures-from-the-middletown-open-air-market-and-festival/ and a write-up of the market in 2011, http://jasonharrispromotions.org/2011/10/26/an-authors-account-of-the-middletown-open-air-market/.  This is a fun event, with live music, food, and great crafts and booths. This is my third year being a vendor there and I’m looking to be a part of it for years to come.
