Higganum Teen Arrested on Drug Charges

Police said Daniel Demelis was caught with narcotics in Middletown.

A Higganum teenager is facing drug charges after police said he was caught with marijuana and other narcotics in Middletown.

Daniel G. Demelis, 18, of Oxbow Road, was arrested around 7:42 p.m. on Monday and charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet from a school and possessing a weapon in a vehicle.

According to police, Officers witnessed Demelis and two other juveniles in the parking lot of the Dunkin' Donuts on Washington Street smoking marijuana cigarettes in their car. 

Police said Demelis was also in possession of six Clonazepam pills, four LSD squares and brass knuckles. His phone, police say, had messages indicating he was selling drugs.

Demelis is due in court on July 10, The Middletown Press reported.
