House Damaged, Family Pet Lost in Heavy Killingworth Weekend Fire
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal.

KILLINGWORTH, CT - Firefighters fought through flames and a depleted tank Saturday evening to put out a substantial fire, but were unable to save a family's pet.
The Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company responded to a structure fire on Route 79 at approximately 6:15 p.m. Firefighters found heavy fire upon arrival.
Additional tankers were requested when underground tank in area was depleted. Water was also drafted out of nearby pond on Route 148, and shuttled to scene.

Automatic mutual aid also responded from Durham, North Madison and Madison. No residents or firefighters were injured, but fire officials said a family pet was lost.
The house sustained major damage as a result of the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
