Intoxicated Man Fell Asleep In Theater With Child In Tow: PD
A Haddam man is accused of struggling with police after they were finally able to wake him up at a movie theater in Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Haddam man was arrested after police say he was intoxicated and fell asleep inside a movie theater while a young child was with him and couldn’t wake him up, according to the police report.
Police responded to the Metro Movie Theater, located at 200 Main Street in Middletown, at about 10 p.m. on Dec. 1 on the report of an intoxicated man who had fallen asleep in the theater with a young child. Witnesses told responding officers that the man fell asleep early during the movie and when it was over the 7-year-old child he was with couldn’t wake him up, according to the report.
The child screamed into the man’s ear but still couldn’t wake him and he was still sleeping when officers arrived, the report states.

After a few minutes, the man, identified as Frank Russo Jr., woke up and became aggressive toward officers and a struggle ensued, according to police.
During the struggled, several small nip-size bottles of alcohol fell out of Russo’s pockets. One bottle was opened and spilled onto the theater seats, according to police.

Russo, 31, of Maple Avenue, was arrested on charges of risk of injury to a child and interfering with police. He was held on a $5,000 bond and issued a court date of Dec. 15.
