Killingworth Arts Center Among 10 Arts Orgs. To Get Grants: Sen. Cohen

GUILFORD, CT — State Senator Christine Cohen (D-Guilford) announced that 10 performing arts organizations in the 12th State Senate District have been awarded nearly $90,000 in state-funded grants.

The organizations will receive grants from the General Operating Support for Theaters & Performing Groups and the CT Arts Endowment Fund.

“The performing arts are an incredible medium to share stories not just of love, laughter and heartbreak - but of culture and community, bringing people together through sharing experiences,” Cohen said. “We are so fortunate to have incredible talent right here in our own backyard, from theater to dance to music and more. I’m proud that we in the legislature, and our partners in the executive branch, are continuing to ensure these organizations have the funds they need to thrive and enrich their communities.”

The General Operating Support for Theaters and Performing Groups funds provide general operating support grants to Connecticut-based theaters and performing groups whose primary purpose is to present the performing arts to the public.

The CT Arts Endowment Fund was established by the Connecticut General Assembly to stimulate the development of private sector funding and to ensure the long-term stability of Connecticut’s arts industry by providing funding to organizations. The Fund is managed by the Office of the State Treasurer and the program is administered by the Connecticut Office of the Arts. These grants are an addition to the $28,904 in Supporting Arts grants, announced in November 2022.

Legacy Theatre, $19,769 GOS grant and $26,909 CT Arts Endowment grant.

East Haven $3,050 total grants

East Haven Arts Commission, $3,050 GOS grant.

Guilford $13,530 total grants

Chestnut Hill Concerts, Inc., $4,997 GOS grant and $500 CT Arts Endowment grant.

The Guilford Art Center, Inc., a $1,991 CT Arts Endowment grant.

Project: Music Heal Us, a $6,042 CT Arts Endowment grant.

Killingworth $500 total grants

The Arts Center at Killingworth (Spectrum Art Gallery), $500 CT Arts Endowment grant.

Madison $20,280 total grants

Friends of Madison Youth, Inc., (The Barn), $8,749 GOS grant

Fuse Theatre of CT, Inc., $2,996 GOS grant.

Madison Lyric Stage, $8,035 GOS grant, $500 CT Arts Endowment grant.
