Killingworth Library's Tuesday Book Club Will Meet Virtually On Aug. 12
This month's read is "Before We Were Yours" by Lisa Wingate.
Our Tuesday Book Discussion has gone virtual! Meet up on Zoom as we discuss Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate.
This historical novel is based on the practice of one Georgia Tann and the Tennessee Children’s Home Society in Memphis. For decades before and after the Great Depression, Tann and the Society took healthy white children from poor families and sold them to wealthy and influential couples as “adoptions.” The story is narrated by one of the stolen girls and by a young lawyer who years later stumbles onto the now elderly woman’s story.
