Kitten That East Haddam Firefighters Rescued Finds New Home
A kitten, who wasn't breathing after being rescued from a fire last month, has been adopted.
EAST HADDAM, CT — A kitten rescued in a structure fire last month in East Haddam has found a new home.
East Haddam firefighters Eric Walker and Michelle Forbes have adopted the kitten and named him “Soot,” according to a fire department Facebook post.
The kitten was rescued from a fire Nov. 30 on North Moodus Road. Firefighters were dispatched at 8:54 a.m.

They arrived to find smoke showing from the second floor of the structure.
"A quick, aggressive interior attack of the fire was conducted by interior crews, essentially saving the structure," the fire department said. "Firefighter Brian Duhaime rescued several animals from the structure."

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
However, one of the kittens wasn't breathing. Firefighters and EMTs performed pet CPR and administered oxygen before rushing the kitten to Piper-Olsen Veterinarian clinic.
