Connecticut River Ferry Crew Members with Pink Slips to Meet Tonight

State employees will discuss their support for the revised SEBAC tentative agreement at Hadlyme Public Hall prior to a previously scheduled "Save the Ferries" meeting.

Connecticut River Ferry crew members who received pink slips from the state are being asked to gather in the parking lot outside of the , August 9th at 6:30 p.m. to "discuss why they are supporting the revised SEBAC tentative agreement to protect their jobs, preserve vital benefits, maintain negotiating rights and preserve public services."

Where: Hadlyme Public Hall, located at 1 Day Hill Road in East Haddam, CT. Gather in the parking lot outside the Public Hall building.

When: Today, Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Who: State employees who operate the historic Chester-to-Hadlyme and Rocky Hill-to-Glastonbury Ferries, including captains and crew who have recently received layoff notices. Local community members from "Save the CT River Ferries" will join them before a previously scheduled meeting of volunteers organizing responses for public comment on the proposed ferry service shut-down.

What: On the loss of alternative transportation options for local commuters and the impact on area small businesses eliminating the historic ferry service will create. State employees will discuss why they are supporting the revised SEBAC tentative agreement to protect their jobs, preserve vital benefits, maintain negotiating rights, and preserve public services.
