Dance Performance collects almost 400 toys for charity

The Dance Corner, of Killingworth, CT, presented its tenth annual performance of the Winter Follies: A Celebration of the Seasons Through Song and Dance on Saturday, December 9th at the Andrews Memorial Town Hall Auditorium in Clinton, CT.

The Dance Corner joined forces with Corner Music of Old Saybrook and the Madison Police Department to present an evening of festive entertainment in while collecting toy donations to benefit Madison Youth and family services and Yale New Haven Hospital. “This was our most successful toy drive to date. We collected over 360 toys at the performance,” said Carrie Smith, Director of The Dance Corner. The dancers and musicians performed to a full house and the holiday spirit was felt by all.

Smith says the Winter Follies gives her students to chance to do what they love, dance and perform on stage, while giving back to the community. She particularly enjoys the opportunity to collaborate with another local performing arts school. She and her students look forward to the 2019 Winter Follies and the annual Dancing From the Heart show in October 2019 to benefit Child Life at Yale New Haven Hospital.

The Dance Corner welcomes students of any age or level to take a free trial dance class. The studio is currently accepting new students into their 2018-2019 Fall-Spring session as well as offering new Acrodance Preschool and Ninja Tumbling mini-sessions for boys and girls age 3 1/2-7 as well as new class sessions for Adults beginning January 7th.
