Local Dance and Music Performance collects over 300 toys for Toys For Tots

Local dance and music students give a performance to collect toys for Toys for Tots.

The Dance Corner, of Killingworth, CT, presented its seventh annual performance of the Winter Follies: A Celebration of the Seasons Through Song and Dance on Saturday, December 12th at the Andrews Memorial Town Hall Auditorium in Clinton, CT.

The Dance Corner joined forces with Corner Music of Old Saybrook to present an evening of festive entertainment in while collecting toys to benefit the Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program. “This a very successful toy drive. We collected over 300 toys at the performance,” said Carrie Smith, Director of The Dance Corner. The dancers and musicians performed to a full house and the holiday spirit was felt by all. One member of the audience commented,” The show was wonderful, and the whispers in the audience at the end were, ‘awh it’s over?’ “

Smith says the Winter Follies gives her students to chance to do what they love, dance and perform on stage, while giving back to the community. She particularly enjoys the opportunity to collaborate with another local performing arts school. She and her students look forward to the 2016 Winter Follies and possibly adding another charitable performance to their calendar in the new year.
