Long Island Man Owned Plane That Crashed, Killing 1

The small aircraft crashed Friday afternoon in heavy woods near the Clinton-Westbrook border, killing one.

Editor's Note: Patch originally reported that the owner of the plane that crashed in Westbrook was Christine P. Mustazza of East Northport, Long Island, because of a serial-number error. Patch apologizes for the error.

The registered owner of the small plane that crashed in Westbrook Friday afternoon is Peter B. Bendzlowicz III of Wading River, N.Y.

The plane, which sent out a distress call and crashed in dense woods near the Clinton-Westbrook border, was destroyed, and passenger Peter P. Bendzlowicz Jr., also of Wading River, was killed. The younger Bendzlowicz was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The relationship between the two Bendzlowiczes is unclear.
