Man Dies in Westbrook Apartment Fire

WESTBROOK, CT - Fire officials said a man is dead after a fire in Westbrook on Tuesday morning, NBC Connecticut reported.

The fire was reported at an Economy Drive residence just after 7:30 a.m., according to NBC Connecticut. Fire crews at the scene evacuated approximately 10 people from various apartments.

Officials said the fire started in a basement-level apartment and was contained in that unit, NBC Connecticut reported. Officials said the man who died was in the apartment, and there were no signs he tried to leave the room.
