Man Killed in East Haddam Crash, Scheduled to Begin 10-Year Prison Sentence
A man sentenced to 10 years in prison was killed in a car crash.

EAST HADDAM, CT - A man who was to begin serving a 10-year prison sentence was killed in a car crash Tuesday, according to media reports.
John Lavoie, 60, went off the road and hit a tree close to 8 a.m., NBC Connecticut reported. He was traveling westbound on Route 82.
The victim had been sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting his wife in 2009, the Hartford Courant reported. He was scheduled to report to court that morning to begin his sentence.

Lavoie was pronounced dead at the scene, according to NBC Connecticut. The route was closed from Route 156 to the Lyme town line until close to 12:15 p.m.
