Meet Shawn O'Connell

Meet Shawn O'Connell, Vice Chairman on the Board of Finance for the town of Killingworth

My name is Shawn O’Connell, and I am running for the Board of Finance.

If you notice my campaign signs around town, you will see that the first word says “Trustworthy”.  I chose this word because I am proud of it. In my career, I have earned the trust of the Connecticut State Police as I served as a detective investigating financial crimes, and I have earned the trust of the Federal Inspector General’s Office where I served eight years investigating financial fraud.  After I moved to Killingworth I have earned the trust of the people of Killingworth by being elected to the Board of Finance, where I have served two terms and have become vice chairman.  I am now asking for the residents of Killingworth to put their trust in me once more, and elect me to the Board of Finance for a third term.

In my terms on the Board of Finance, I am proud to say I helped reduce municipal spending by nearly one million dollars without reducing services to the community.  This means that every month, you are able to buy one more bag of groceries, or one more tank of gas, that you wouldn’t have been able to before as it would have gone to the town in taxes, and all without causing important services such as snow removal or road repair to suffer.  I am not only a member of the board of Finance.  I am also your neighbor, and I know that every dollar the town takes in taxes is another dollar that won’t go to supporting your families.

It is an incredibly important duty to balance the needs of the town and the needs of the residents of Killingworth.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support in the past, and I hope I may count on your support again this November.  Thank you.
