The free summer concert series take places on the lawn of the historic Goodspeed Opera House building.

EAST HADDAM, CT — While the Goodspeed Opera House has drawn visitors for years, a more recent tradition is the summer concert series that takes place on the lawn of the historic building.

Last summer’s edition was the 15th season of the Music on the River series.

The free outdoor concert is located on the lawn of the historic Goodspeed Opera House in downtown East Haddam.

“The MOTR Concerts are made possible through the generous contributions of Business Sponsors and Individual Patrons who share a mutual belief that music is Celebratory, Joyful and, most importantly, Healing,” reads a post on the Music on the River website. “Now more than ever, we embrace this opportunity to rekindle friendships and rejoice in a weekly celebration of these values. The partnership of MOTR with the audience demonstrates the spirit of a community which appreciates the extraordinary artists who perform and the majesty of the location, all respectfully working together toward continued success.”

No town funds are used in offering the free concerts, according to the East Haddam Parks & Recreation website.
