New London Police Make Arrest in Home Invasion, Sexual Assault Case

The alleged incident took place the night of Saturday, Jan. 24.

New London police responded to a call at approximately 9:05 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, after receiving a call reporting a sexual assault and home invasion.

A 60-year-old female victim told police she arrived at her home and was attacked from behind, New London Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said in a press release.

The man is alleged to have forced her into her home, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. The woman was able to escape to a local business, where she called for help.

Police recognized a man matching the description give and stopped him, Reichard said. The victim positively identified the suspect as Luis Rosario, 32, of New London.

He was charged with the following and is being held on $250,000 bond:

  • Sexual assault in the third degree
  • Criminal attempt of sexual assault in the first degree
  • Unlawful restraint

“The victim was not seriously hurt,” Reichard said.
