Occupy New Haven Starts 1,000 Strong

About 1,000 Americans join the Occupy movement in New Haven, Conn.

What began as a small protest in Manhattan dubbed Occupy Wall Street has ballooned into a cross-country movement. And it landed in the heart of the Elm City Saturday as about 1,000 people rallied to launch the Occupy New Haven movement on the Green.

The event began with a march around noon. Participants have no end-date in mind; they were pitching tents and the Occupy New Haven Facebook page event says it will last at least four months-- the longest the social media site allows for events.
